SwingSpot

Privacy Policy

Last updated 19 September 2026

The short version. Your swing videos, and everything the app measures from them, never leave your phone. Analysis happens on-device. Your account stores your email, your golf profile, and whether your membership is active. We do not run ads, analytics trackers or sell data, and you can delete your account from inside the app.

Who we are

SwingSpot is an iPhone app that measures a golf swing from video, made by Shawn Mian, an independent developer. This policy explains what the app stores, where, and why. Questions go tosupport@swingspot.app.

What stays on your phone

Everything heavy is written to the app’s private storage on your iPhone and is never transmitted:

  • Videos you record in the app or import from your photo library
  • Individual frames, thumbnails and trimmed clips derived from those videos
  • The body-position (pose) data used to draw the skeleton over your video
  • Swing reports — phases, timing, tempo and body-movement figures — and the drills suggested from them
  • Local settings, such as which camera angle you film from

Swing analysis runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device Vision framework. No video, image, frame or pose track is sent anywhere to be processed. Deleting a swing in the app deletes its video; deleting the app removes all of it.

What your account stores

SwingSpot uses an account to sign you in and to tie your membership to you rather than to one phone. The account holds:

  • Email address — to sign you in, verify your account and reset your password.
  • Golf profile — the answers you give when you set up the app: which hand you play, your handicap, and what you want to work on, plus a display name if you add one. All optional, and editable at any time.
  • A user ID — an internal identifier that links your profile and your membership to your account.

Your account never contains a video, a frame, a thumbnail, body-tracking data or a swing report. Reports stay on the phone that produced them; syncing them between phones is not a feature of this version. Each account can read and write only its own rows; this is enforced at the database level.

Where account data is hosted

Account data is stored with Supabase, a hosted database and authentication provider, on infrastructure it operates. Supabase processes this data on our behalf and under its ownprivacy policy. Data is encrypted in transit. Your session is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Subscriptions and payments

SwingSpot requires a paid membership to analyse swings. Purchases are made through Apple’s App Store and governed by Apple’s terms; we never see your card details. To confirm that an account is entitled to paid features we use RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives your user ID and the purchase information Apple provides — product, dates and status — and nothing else: not your email, not your profile, and nothing from your phone. It processes this under its ownprivacy policy. Manage or cancel a subscription in your iPhone’s Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions; deleting your account does not cancel billing on its own.

Permissions the app asks for

  • Camera — only to record a swing in the app. Recording has no audio; the app never requests microphone access.
  • Photo library — only to let you choose videos to analyse. The app reads the videos you pick and never writes to your library.

Both are optional. Decline either and the rest of the app still works.

Analytics, tracking and advertising

There are none. No advertising identifier, no third-party analytics SDK, no tracking across other companies’ apps or websites, and no sale of personal data. If a crash-reporting or analytics tool is ever added, this policy will say so first, it will be joined to the account-deletion flow below, and it will not include any video content.

Email

We send email only for account verification, password resets and, if you contact support, to reply to you. No marketing email unless you explicitly opt in.

Your control

  • Export — Settings lets you share your measurements as a file, from your phone to wherever you choose.
  • Delete a swing — from the library, including its video on the phone.
  • Edit your profile — change or clear your name and golf profile at any time.
  • Delete your account — the account screen has a delete option. You will be asked to re-enter your password. Deletion removes your account and profile from our systems, and removes that account’s swing library from the phone you delete it on. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Videos you have saved elsewhere, such as in Photos, are unaffected.

If you cannot access the app, emailsupport@swingspot.app from your account address and we will delete the account for you.

Retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account it is removed from the live database immediately; encrypted backups held by our hosting provider expire on their standard schedule. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own records of purchases for accounting and fraud prevention, and account deletion does not erase those.

Children

SwingSpot is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live) and does not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or to object to how it is processed. Every one of those can be done from inside the app; for anything else, email us. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated before that change ships and the date at the top will move. Material changes will also be flagged in the app.
